Helping Families Connect, Honor & Remember

We are so honored to be thought of by families in their time of need.  Because we do understand the importance of trusting us with those you love and cherish, we commit ourselves to the best care we can offer physically and emotionally.  We begin 2015 with the same commitment we have practiced over these many decades, to treat others as we would be treated.  Funeral service is a grand tradition.  Our traditions were not just taught to us, they were created by the Hawthorn Family as the first and foremost funeral home in Carthage and Panola County, Texas.  We keep these traditions alive and move forward into the 21st century remembering who we are and where we came from and creating new traditions in this new era of funeral service.

  • Carlton and Staff, Your kindness is very special to us. Time passes and love dims, but we will never forget how you helped ease the pain and cheer our hearts during this difficult time. Our deepest appreciation to you for all you have done. God loves you and we do, too. • Dear Carlton, On February 7, as we laid our mother Marcelle Cobb to rest, you and the rest of the Hawthorn Funeral Home staff did an exemplary job. Not only did you step in with short notice to aid your fellow professional, you did so with great care to detail and with compassion. Your work allowed us to focus on celebrating the life of our Godly mother with a sweet sorrow. Thank you and please thank the gentlemen assisting you for all that was done on our behalf. God bless.

  • Dear Carlton and Karen, Words escape me. I have tried to figure out how to adequately thank you for the gift of love you gave our family. When we walked in to Hawthorn's on Sunday, I couldn't believe my eyes. Mother looked BEAUTIFUL! A sight to behold. You are truly gifted! Thank you also for the care you gave us, the comfort, the laughter, and for allowing all the tears. We are so thankful and appreciative of all you did for ALL of us. Lastly, thank you for the tray of food because we were famished. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
