Mr. Donald Kasper

Graveside services for Mr. Donnie Kasper, 66 of Lake Murvaul will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Odd Fellows Cemetery with Dr. Charles Dodson and Rev. Steve Jackson officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Family visitation will be Thursday evening from 6–8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Kasper passed away May 12, 2014 in Carthage. Mr. Donald Ray Kasper was born November 3, 1947 in Port Arthur, Texas. Donnie was the youngest of three children born to the marriage of Richard Carl and Bertha Louise Kilian Kasper. He was raised and schooled in Port Arthur, graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School with the class of 1965. Donnie later attended Panola Junior College where he played baseball and earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business and later attended Stephen F. Austin State University. He met and later married Elizabeth Jones on June 10, 1967 and together they celebrated 46 years. Mr. Kasper worked for 25 years for Drew Woods and later owned Carthage Sheet Metal for over 20 years. He loved to go fishing with his grandkids and watching them play the many sports they were involved in. Donnie was a loving husband, father and “G-Daddy” to his grandchildren and a longtime member of Central Baptist Church in Carthage. He is preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Kasper in survived by his loving wife Betty Kasper of Lake Murvaul; daughters, Debbie Sigmon and husband Jason of Allen, Pam Hardy and husband Dennis of Frisco, Jenni Thomas and husband Carson of Lake Murvaul; sister, Dorothy Campbell of Port Arthur; brother, James Kasper and wife Sue of Port Neches; grandchildren, Grant Hardy, Logan Sigmon, Tate Sigmon, Jake Thomas, Emma Hardy, Maddox Thomas, Ava Sigmon and Gracie Thomas; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Maxey, Ricky Maxey, Kevin Jones, Jeff Jones, Rob Campbell and Russell Yates. If desired, memorial donations may be made in Mr. Kasper’s name to Central Baptist Church, 220 W. Sabine, Carthage, Texas 75633 or to the charity of your choice.
