Mrs. Ella Mae Pierce

Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Mae Pierce will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2023, at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Anderson and Heath Kruebbe officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Mrs. Ella Mae Mercer Pierce was born May 17, 1934, in Harrison County, Texas. Mrs. Pierce passed this life June 7, 2023, in Longview, Texas. Ella was one of ten children born to the marriage of Bert and Mattie Mae Woodley Mercer. She was raised and schooled in Elysian Fields graduating high school there. She married Leo Allen Pierce June 2, 1951, and they celebrated 58 years of marriage and two daughters before he preceded her in death in 2010. Mrs. Pierce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother to her family. She was a natural caregiver and would later become a Nurse Aide Practitioner working for Panola Nursing Home. Ella placed her Lord and family above all else. She loved and served her Lord through Fielder Road Baptist Church while in Arlington and upon returning she served through Friendship Baptist Church where she had lifelong friendships. She loved flower gardening and cooking. Her life was spent caring and giving to others. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Louise Burt, Marie Voyles, Sybil McDaniel, Henry Mercer, B.W. Mercer, Joe Mercer, Nina McDonald, and Jimmy Mercer. Mrs. Pierce is survived by her loving daughters, Phyllis Hays and fiancé Joe Gentry of Carthage, Barbara Jo Kruebbe and husband Michael Joseph of Carthage; sister, Betty Railey and husband Jack of Scottsville; grandchildren, Matthew Joseph Kruebbe of Austin, Brandon Allen Kruebbe and wife Shelly of Carthage, Michael Heath Kruebbe and wife Kathleen of Carthage, Brian Paul Kruebbe of Carthage, Josh and Brittany Gentry of Carthage, and Jamie Nutt and Husband Kolt of Carthage; great grandchildren, Hope, Austin, Caleb, Anna, Ally, Avery, Faith, Katelynn, Abbott, MinhAnh, Shelby, Jacob, Jared, Kilee, Kayden, Kaden, and Kyton; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be, Matthew Kruebbe, Brandon Kruebbe, Heath Kruebbe, Brian Kruebbe, Caleb Kruebbe, Jerry Wayne Anderson, and Randy Wilkerson. Honorary pallbearers, David Thompson, Glenn Reeves, Ralph Jolley, Mike Roquemore, Ron Roquemore and Rob Jolley. The family request memorials to CISD Education Foundation.
