Funeral services for Mrs. “Becky” Hooper, 81 of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2011 in the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steven Hill and Dr. Dale Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Adams Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Family visitation will be Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 6 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Hooper died Sunday, November 20, 2011 in Nacogdoches, Texas. Rebecca Ruth “Becky” Davis Hooper was born June 19, 1930 in Logansport, DeSoto Parish, Louisiana to Tye Joseph and Bertha Mae Tyler Davis. She attended Bellmont, Yarnell and Carthage schools. Becky met and later married Wilson Curtice Hooper on June 12, 1947 and together they shared over 64 years of marriage. She retired from AT&T after many years of service. Becky was active in the G.A.L.S. Auxiliary at New Shady Grove Baptist Church where she had been a member since 1945, making her their oldest living member. She was also a member of the Shriners Ladies Auxiliary. Becky enjoyed cooking and caring for others, especially her many family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son and daughter, Jerry Hooper and Karen Curbow; brothers, Robert and Truman Davis; and sisters, Mary Ainsworth and Grace Cole. Becky is survived by her loving husband Curtice Hooper of Carthage; daughter, Sherry Pride and husband Ricky of Carthage; brother, Tommy Davis of Norfolk, Nebraska; sister, Doris Dickerson of Tenaha; grandchildren, Bryan Pride and wife Anissa of Carthage, Jamie Deville and husband Shane of Carthage, Misty Armstrong and husband Gary of Carthage, Mindy Halcumb and husband Bryce of Carthage, Brandy Page and husband Scott of Carthage, Ginger Eaves and husband J.W. of Tenaha, Kc Hooper of Oklahoma, Curtice Hooper of Carthage, and Jessica Pride of Carthage. Sixteen great-grandchildren and numerous other nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive Mrs. Hooper. Serving as pallbearers will be Rope Pride, Rider Pride, Justin Page, Ranzy Armstrong, Brantun Halcumb and Bryan Pride. Honorary pallbearers will be Tucker Deville, Cole Deville, Shane Deville and Scott Page.
