. Deborah Ruth Marshall

Deborah Ruth Marshall, 68, of Bastrop, Texas passed away on December 7, 2021 after a brief illness. Born November 2, 1953 in Jacksonville, Texas to Emory Neal Marshall and Verna Annielee Fleming Marshall, Debie grew up in San Augustine. She attended San Augustine public schools, Stephen F. Austin State University and the University of Houston. Debie found her niche as a certified court reporter, and later as a live online broadcast captioner for the hearing impaired. Her career took her to many faraway places on exotic assignments. She lived and worked in The Hague, Netherlands recording proceedings in war crimes tribunals. She lived in Japan recording proceedings of international business affairs. Debie indulged her passion for exploration along the way, aking time to get to know the sights, sounds tastes wherever she lived, while cultivating lifelong friendships. Debie’s passion was not limited to cultural exploration. She had a great passion for exploring the outdoors too. From the Smokey Mountains to the Mojave Desert, from Myanmar to Mongolia, and many other nearby and faraway places, she enjoyed camping, backpacking, kayaking, and photographing her many adventures. Seeking a deeper knowledge for nature, she recently became a Certified Texas Master Naturalist. She was always striving to identify, understand and preserve the natural world around her. Debie is remembered by all for her generosity and her irreverent sense of humor. Her greatest joy in life came from her friends family. Whether taking a road trip or going to a concert with a good friend, attending an extended family reunion, or a casual meal with close family, Debie was always happiest being with those she loved. Debie will join her parents and brother John Kenneth Marshall in the hereafter. She is survived by her brother Donnie Marshall and spouse Catherine Pressler, nephew Emory Marshall and spouse Jen Monsein, nephew Ross Marshall and spouse Natalie Be’er, grandnephew Ethan Marshall, niece Elissa Marshall and spouse Ricardo Bustamante, sister-in-law Linda Murdock Marshall, many beloved cousins, and her dear friends Gail, Mayumi and Reba.
