Mr Delmar Francis Chapman Jr.

Hawthorn Funeral Home announces the passing of Mr. Delmar Francis Chapman, Jr., 93, of Tyler, Texas. He was born March 8, 1931 in Larned, Kansas. He passed this life August 23, 2024 at Watkins Logan Veterans Home in Tyler, Texas where he received his Final Salute. Delmar was one of three children born to the marriage of Delmar Francis and Burnetta Lytle Chapman, Sr. He was raised in the Methodist faith and schooled in Lyons Kansas. Delmar met and married the love of his life, Phyllis Jean Thompson, they met at 5 years of age, his mother had to sign for the marriage being only 17, it lasted 63 years. Together they had three daughters; Phyllis preceded him in death in 2011. Delmar served his country entering the U.S. Air Force in Kansas City, Missouri, serving from 1948 - 1952, Korean War, sea search rescue. He was honorably discharged through McChord Air Force Base in Washington. Delmar spent his career in the oil field. His work carried him from bottom to top where he owned and operated the Chapman Production Company. Delmar was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Willison, ND. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, gardening and sharing his crop with loved ones and neighbors. Delmar and Phyllis spent their later years, always together, traveling and seeing the country in their fifth wheel keeping family wondering what state they were exploring next, now they are together again exploring a whole new horizon. He is also preceded in death by his parents, sister, Sharon Kay Metheny; daughter, Donna Kay Chapman and a granddaughter, Becky Vader. Delmar is survived by his two loving daughters, Debbie Bronson of Willison, ND, and Diana Bonds and husband Mike of Carthage; brother, Ronald Chapman of Maui, Hawaii; grandchildren, Michael Vader and wife Torrie of Williston, ND, Brenda Vader of Ogden, UT, Kim Dolatta and husband Dean of Chadron, NE, Tricia Lund and husband Russ of Mitzpah, MN, Becky Ronald and husband Brian of Camarilla, CA, and Christopher Michael Bonds of Carthage; great grandchildren, Jorden Bonds, Alexis Vader, Timothy Vader, Hailey Vader, Grayson Vader, Parker Vader, Cooper Vader, Tommy Lund, and Raelynn Dolatta; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
