Ms. Doris Ann Davis Dickerson

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Doris Ann Davis Dickerson on August 6 2026 at the age 80, from Tenaha, Texas. Doris was born on August 4, 1946, in Carthage, Texas, to Tye Joseph Davis and Bertha Mae Davis. She grew up attending school in both Carthage, Texas, and Cheyenne, Wyoming, a place she always hoped to return to someday. Doris was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family. She worked for many years as a cashier at several convenience stores, where her friendly smile and warm personality made lasting impressions on those she met. She attended various churches throughout her life and had a deep love for the Lord. More than anything, she wanted her children and grandchildren to know that God loved them. She faithfully taught them to pray and encouraged them to keep their faith. Doris also loved to sing, often making up her own fun and quirky songs that brought laughter and smiles to everyone around her. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for making ordinary moments memorable. She is survived by her loving daughters: Lisa Evans and husband Terry of DeBerry, Texas, Cristi Estes and husband Johnny of Tenaha, Texas and Connie Coile and husband Wayne of Tenaha, Texas. She also leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren, nine cherished great-grandchildren, and her special friend Helen Estes, along with Fan Stephens and wife Sandra and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss her dearly. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Tye Joseph Davis and Bertha Mae Davis; her husband, Leo Nunley; her brothers, Robert Davis, Truman Davis, and Tommy Davis; and her sisters, Becky Hooper, Grace Cole, and Mary Evelyn Ainsworth. Doris will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her strong faith in God, her joyful spirit, and her ability to make those around her laugh. Her legacy of love, prayer, kindness, and faith will continue to live on in the lives of those she touched. Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord. She will be deeply loved, forever remembered, and greatly missed. Funeral services for Mrs. Dickerson will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2026 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Harville and Bobby Henley officiating. Burial will follow in the Adams Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday night at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Jesse Taylor, Josh Taylor, Joey Evans, Coty George, Logan Stewart, Layne Stewart and honorary pallbearers Johnny Estes, Terry Evans, Wayne Coile and Wayne Stewart.
