Mr. Edward Earl Lewing

Funeral service for Mr. Edward Lewing, 78 of DeBerry will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Baze officiating. A time of visitation will be from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mr. Edward Earl Lewing was born on Sunday, September 17, 1944, in Hemphill, Texas. Born one of seven children to the marriage of Robert Earl Lewing and Polly Robbins. He gained his wings and walked into his mansion not built by hands on Tuesday evening, December 6, 2022, in Longview, Texas. Mr. Edward proudly served his country in the Vietnam War from 1965-1967 and was honorably discharged in 1967. He met and married the love of his life, Sharon Clay Lewing on Thursday, October 28, 1965, and together they celebrated a little over 55 years of marriage before she preceded him in death in December of 2020. He spent most of his life working in the oilfield on drilling rigs and as a welder for Brown – N – Root. He had a passion for cars and working on them whenever he got the opportunity. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time in the outdoors as well as shooting dice. He loved his family with a passion and would drop what he was doing whenever his family needed him. Mr. Lewing is survived by his children, Robert Dewight Lewing and wife Robin, Melvin Ray Lewing and partner Tonya Kinsey, Terry Lynn LaGrone and husband Wesley, and Bridget Brewster and husband Michael; sister Patricia Willcox and husband Jerry and Alice Faye Sapp; grandkids, Cason Hartis, Alton Ray Lewing, Colton, Jacob, and Justin LaGrone, Krisleigh Brewster, Kadee and Kenzee Wilkins – Clark, and Zach and Vince Lewing; a great grandson, Weston Hartis. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 55 years, Sharon Lewing, brothers, Bobby, Alton, and James Lewing; and a sister, Frances Williams. Serving as pallbearers are Robert Lewing, Melvin Lewing, Wesley LaGrone, Colton LaGrone, Darrell Benton, and David Jones. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Harthcock, Trey Harthcock, Jacob LaGrone, Justin LaGrone, and Michael Brewster.
