Mrs. Eloise Lawless Martin

Funeral services for Mrs. Eloise Lawless Martin, 93, of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Harold Coburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Panola Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Family visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m. Tuesday night at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mrs. Martin died September 14, 2013 in Carthage, Texas. Mrs. Eloise “Weezie” Lawless Martin was born November 8, 1919 in DeBerry, Texas. She was one of ten children born to the marriage of Charlie Erwin and Mary Ella Tiller Lawless. Eloise was raised and schooled in DeBerry and completed Greenwood Schools. She married John Richard Martin July 5, 1954 and they celebrated 30 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 1984. “Weezie” worked for Bell South over 30 years as an operator. She was a longtime member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Mrs. Martin loved the Dallas Cowboys, music, games and traveling. She is also preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Glen Lawless, Bernice Lawless, Junior Lawless, Essell Lawless, and Fred Lawless (who died as an infant), sisters, Maude Clo Studdard, Metzel Oden, Pernye Davidson and Mabel Bailey, nieces, Frances Ditmore, Lillian “Sis” Kelley, nephews, J.H. and Charlie Ray Lawless, Wayne Studdard and Donnie Oden and her best friend, Joe Matt Alexander in 2007. Mrs. Martin is survived by her nieces and nephews, Luther, Jimmy, Joe Lynn, and Norma Lawless, Chester Studdard, Betty Prior, Royce and Jerry Davidson, Gene Oden, Toby Monday, Mary Faulkner, Gloria Creel, Brenda Deblance and Rita Payne who all loved her like a mother, She leaves behind many other relatives and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Kelley, Thumper, Ronny & Steve Oden, Terry Davidson, Kirk Davidson, Craig Lawless, Shane Dailey, and all her great nephews, honorary pallbearers will be Luther, Jimmy and Joe Lynn Lawless, Chester Studdard, Gene Oden, Royce and Jerry Davidson, Jack Ditmore, Jr. and John O’Bryan. The family suggests memorials to the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church P.O. Box 274, Panola, Texas 75685 or the Panola Mt. Zion Cemetery Association.
