Mr. Floyd Dudley

Funeral services for Mr. Floyd Henson Dudley, 81, of Long Branch, Texas, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2026, at Pine Hill Methodist Church, with Rev. Linda Kimberly and Rev. Michael Player officiating. Interment will follow at Boynton Cemetery with Bro. James McRight officiating under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mr. Floyd Henson Dudley was born on July 11, 1944, in Kilgore, Texas, to Charlotte Henson Dudley and Floyd G. Dudley. He passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, in Long Branch, Texas, at the age of 81. The oldest of four children, Floyd was raised in Kilgore, where he graduated with the Kilgore High School Class of 1963, where he lettered in baseball and football before earning his degree from Kilgore College in 1966. On July 2, 1966, he married the love of his life, Teresa Amanda Player, beginning a marriage that spanned nearly six decades. Together they celebrated 59 years of love, faith, and family. Floyd devoted his professional life to drafting, beginning his career with Texas Eastman Corporation in 1966. After 32 years of service, he continued his work with S&B Engineering, retiring after an impressive 44-year career. His dedication, skill, and strong work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike. A faithful member of Pine Hill Methodist Church, Floyd believed deeply in serving his community. His love for baseball led him and friends to found the Sabine Youth Baseball Association, where he helped provide opportunities for countless young athletes. He also found great joy in woodworking, creating with his hands, and spending cherished time with his family and many friends. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Charlotte and Floyd G. Dudley, and his brother, Nicky Ray Dudley. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Teresa Dudley of Long Branch; his sons, Art Dudley and wife Rachel of Long Branch and Lee Dudley and wife Brandy of Long Branch; his brother, Darrell Wayne Dudley of Washington; and his sister, Nora Jan Washburn of Kilgore. He also leaves behind his treasured grandchildren: Kari Courtney, Reese Dudley, Baylor Hortman, Allie Kelley, Karter Dudley, Harper Dudley, Randy Fox and wife Morgan, and Lacy Brevard. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Weston Fox and Sage Brevard, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Will Kiper, Shawn Scott, Baylor Hortman, Kendall Walden, Collin Walden, Michael Player and Kelly Player. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Player, Milton Sullivent, Dean Taliaferro and Ken Ragel. Floyd will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful friend, and a man whose quiet strength, generous heart, and commitment to family and community left a lasting impact on all who knew him. His life was one of service, integrity, and love, and his memory will continue to be a blessing to those he leaves behind.
