Mr. Jackie Robinson

Funeral services for Mr. Jackie Robinson, 71, of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Carthage with Dr. Allen Tilley and Bro. James McRight officiating. Burial will follow in the Clayton Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday night at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mr. Jackie Roscoe Robinson was born September 5, 1950, in Big Spring, Texas. He passed this life February 24, 2022, in Tyler, Texas. Jackie was born to the marriage of Billie Jim and Gloria Ann Davis Robinson. He lost his father early and was raised by his stepfather Henry Parrish. He was raised and schooled in Carthage graduating with the Bulldog class of 1969. He obtained his bachelor’s from Stephen F. Austin State University then served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corp. Jackie received his master’s degree from Texas A&M Texarkana. He married his love Susan Elizabeth Reed September 1, 1972, and they celebrated almost 50 years of marriage. Mr. Robinson began his career as an accountant, later receiving his CPA license working with dedicated partners since 1983, Chapman, Robinson & Co., Robinson & Williams, and Robinson & Payne before his retirement. He also worked at Panola College for three years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carthage since 1983. Mr. Robinson served as a deacon, treasurer, taught Sunday school both adult and teenagers and served on the pastoral search committee. He loved hunting, fishing and offshore fishing trips with his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, and a sister, Pam Parrish. Mr. Robinson is survived by his loving wife Susan Robinson of Carthage; children, Paul Robinson of Fairplay, Katy Becker and husband Shawn of Kingwood, Heather Doty and husband Bart of Kilgore, Cory Robinson and wife Ling Liu of Allen; brother, Ronnie Robinson and wife Sherry of Kilgore; grandchildren, Jackson, Garrison, and Audrey Becker, Kaidn, Emma, and Edwin Robinson, and Drake Doty; special friend and business partner, Rachael Payne of Carthage; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be, Steve Williams, Keith Chapman, William Goolsby, Bobby Phillips, Scott Thomas, and Mike Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be, Steve Roberson, Richard Thomas, and Marlin Fisher. The family requests memorials to the First Baptist Church of Carthage in his memory.
