Mrs. Janet Lovil

Funeral service for Mrs. Janet Armstrong Lovil, 91, of Carthage, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Freddy Mason and Rev. Betty Wills officiating. Burial will follow in the Six Mile Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. A time of visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Janet Armstrong Lovil was born on November 21, 1931, in Beckville, Texas. She passed this life on December 19, 2022, in Carthage, Texas. Janet was one of four children born to the marriage of Jimmie and Oree Higgenbotham Armstrong. Janet married the love of her life, James (Jim) W. Lovil on August 26, 1949, and together they celebrated 68 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 2017. Mrs. Lovil worked for Southwestern Bell for 15 years and the First National Bank as a note teller retiring in 1981. Janet was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church and attended Abundant Life Bible Study. She loved gardening, reading her bible and time with friends, dominoes and card playing. She is also preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Jerry Armstrong, and Merle Armstrong Knight; a daughter, Donna Lovil Walker. Mrs. Lovil is survived by her devoted children, Mike Lovil and wife Debbie of Carthage, and Cindy Lovil of Carthage; brother, Keith Armstrong and wife Carolyn of Grand Prairie; son-in-law, Ken Walker of Bangkok, Thailand; grandchildren, Colby Padgett of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sonya Walker Chehardy of Collierville, Tennessee, Shelly Walker Hay and husband Terry of Houma, Louisiana, Erik Walker of Carthage, Jonathon Lovil and wife Elizabeth of Carthage, Jamie Lovil Gary and husband Russell of Carthage; nine great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be, Tim Armstrong, Kyle Armstrong, Erik Walker, Jonathan Lovil, Colby Padgett, and Charlie Lovil.
