Mrs. Jeraldine Dyson

Funeral services for Mrs. Jeraldine Dyson, 88, of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2024 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Baze, Bro. Bryan Tarjick and William Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday night at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mrs. Jeraldine Lawhorn Dyson was born July 6, 1936, in the Waterman Front Community of Panola County, Texas. She passed this life November 12, 2024 in Tyler, Texas with her family by her side. Jeraldine was one of three children born to the marriage of Effie Eugunia Hattaway and James Lynard Lawhorn. She was raised and schooled in Carthage. Jeraldine married her love, Cecil Chestley Dyson and they celebrated over 42 years of marriage and five children before he preceded her in death in 1998. Mrs. Dyson worked as a bus driver for Carthage I.S.D. for over 30 years until her retirement. She was a faithful member of the Faith Assembly of God and was a talented seamstress, quilt maker, gardener and cake decorator. Jeraldine loved her Lord and carried that Joy everywhere she went. She is also preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Shannon Dyson, infant grandson, Matthew Gage Rainwater, daughters, Carol Walker and Jeanette Ray, a brother, Edward Lawhorn and a sister, Lula Nell Ivey. Mrs. Dyson is survived by her loving children, son, George Lynard Dyson, daughter, Machelle Sherwood and husband Jimmy; son-in-laws, Arnold Walker and Marvin Ray; sister-in-law, Alice Williams; grandchildren, Jena Wilkerson, Albert Ray, Casey Ray, Aaron Walker, Kelley Walker, Amber Dyson, Ashley Porter, Destiney Hammond, Chelsie Sherwood, Sheldon Sherwood, Cheyenne Sherwood, Angel Ganz; great grandchildren, Jaxon, Waylon, Hunter, Abby, Maddi, Savanna, Madison, Allison, Layton, Gatlyn, Slayton, Keeston, Ashton, Daxton, Bransyn, Port and Kaitlynn; special caregiver, Sonya Brown and her devoted doctor, Dr. Matthew Hoffman; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be, Albert Ray, Aaron Walker, Sheldon Sherwood, Yogi Tarjick, Randy Wilkerson, Brian Tarjick, Jason Lee and Russ Porter. Honorary pallbearers will be, Marvin Ray, Arnold Walker and Jimmy Sherwood.
