Mr. Jerry "Nub" Peace

Funeral services for Mr. Jerry “Nub” Peace, 82, of Antioch will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 27, 2021, at the Hawthorn Funeral chapel with Rev. Roger Cole and Bro. Thomas Monroe officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1-2:00 p.m. Saturday at Hawthorn Funeral Home prior to the service. Mr. Jerry Loyd “Nub” Peace was born May 19, 1939, in the Woods Community of Panola County, Texas. He passed this life November 24, 2021, peacefully at his Antioch home. Jerry was one of nine children born to the marriage of Hollis and Vonnie Wilson Peace. Jerry married his love LaVerne Peace June 3, 1960. Nub sold groceries for Magnolia Grocery for many years, later becoming a store manager for Bell Supply Company in Carthage. Jerry was a long-time member of the Antioch Baptist Church where he led the singing for 17 years. He loved hunting, fishing, and checking his cows. His favorite thing was watching the Carthage Bulldogs on Friday nights. He is preceded in death by his parents, loving wife of 60 years LaVerne Peace, brother, Hollis Peace, sisters, Gertrude Sistrunk, Jimmie Cureton, and Nell Kalichak. Mr. Peace is survived by his devoted sons, Dwain Peace and wife Teresa, Sammy Peace and wife Retha; brothers, Jack Peace, Bill Peace and wife Reba; sisters, Bobbie Barron and Sandra Albritton; grandchildren, Sammie Kay Peace, Brandi Moon, Ashton Peace, Cherie Barnes and husband William, Craig Peace and wife Jamie; great grandchildren, Tinsley Chastain, Celeste Smith, Kaitlyn Reneau, Faith Smith, Natalie Peace, Hunter Bagley, Brody Peace, Braylen Peace, Austin Willisford, Tyler Fountain, Paxton Graves, Samuel Clayton Bagley, Joey Huff, and Caroline Moon; along with many other friends and family. Special thanks to Heartsway Hospice and Amy Clinton and caregivers, his loving granddaughter, Cherie Barnes, Lila Smith, Clovis Matloch, Hazel Pellham, Serving as pallbearers will be, Casey Bagley, Craig Peace, Robert Moon, Shaun Chastain, Jason Peace, and Roland Rushing. Honorary pallbearers will be Tracy Peace, Lynn Lovell, Larry Lovell, Stevie Barron, Randy Barron, Samuel Clayton Bagley, and Joey Huff.
