Mr. Jesse Kenneth Essery

Funeral services for Mr. Jesse Kenneth Essery, 84, of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2015 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Warner officiating. Burial will follow in the Corinth Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday night at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mr. Essery died September 4, 2015 in Carthage, Texas. Mr. Jesse Kenneth Essery was born February 13, 1931 in Timpson, Texas. He was one of seven children born to the marriage of Marion Phillip and Lula Langford Essery. His mother died five months after his birth and he was raised by his grandparents, Frank and Louisa Lee Milford Essery. He was raised in the Corinth Community and attended Timpson Schools. Kenneth met Gladys Louise Jeffress while visiting Snyder, Texas, they were married seven days later in December of 1960. He was an iron worker for the union in Fresno, California, then Orviel, California building the West Branch Feather River Bridge the 2nd highest bridge to date in the United States. From Ft. Worth to Henderson, Brown and Root to Halliburton in Oklahoma to Gillette, Wyoming where he started Ken’s Water Service, then home again to East Texas working for Lone Star Transportation. Ken adored his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved gardening, fishing, hunting, camping and cooking. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Claudine Youngblood, Lucy Cox, Winnie Brown, Marion Ed Essery, Robert Henry Essery and J.B. Essery, and son-in-law, Mark D. Brown. Mr. Essery is survived by his loving wife, Gladys Essery of Carthage, daughter, Tina Warner and husband Michael of Riverton, Wyoming, Renada Johnson and husband Marty of DeBerry, son, Phillip Marion Essery of Carthage, grandchildren, Melissa Brown of Tyler, Anna Bryce and husband Scotty of Timpson, Latesha Pinkerton and husband Richie of Plainview, Kenneth Shane Cuff and wife Chyna of Edom, Audra Harris of Carthage, Katie Essery, Ashley Johnson, MaRinda Cuff all of Carthage, Joseph Johnson of DeBerry, Travis Essery, and Tucker Essery both of Carthage and Callie Elizabeth Essery of Clayton, 18 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
