Mrs. Josephine "Jo" LaGrone

Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine “Jo” LaGrone, 85, of Carthage will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Aaron Bequette officiating. Burial will follow in the Deadwood Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Family visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday night at the funeral home. Mrs. LaGrone died July 17, 2014 peacefully surrounded by her family at her home in Carthage, Texas. Mrs. Josephine “Jo” Hudson LaGrone was born March 2, 1929 in the Shady Grove Community of DeBerry, Texas. She was the baby of nine children born to the marriage of Eugene and Bessie Harrison Hudson. She was raised in DeBerry, schooled in Carthage where she graduated and married Robbie Harold LaGrone February 14, 1946. Jo was a loving homemaker, raising two sons and a daughter and worked 35 years beside her husband as owners and operators of “Robbie’s Food King”. She was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church, loved reading, cooking, bird watching and spending time with her grandbabies she loved so much. Josephine is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Eurby and Thomas Hudson, sisters, Eureen Morris, Ina Mae Rogers, Inez Lloyd, Marie Laurence, Sybil Barton and Emily Whitaker. Mrs. LaGrone is survived by her devoted children, sons, Ronnie LaGrone and wife Gayla of Carthage, Dennis LaGrone and wife Rhonda of Carthage, daughter, Cheryl Thompson and husband David of Carthage, grandchildren, Kim Oldigs and husband Roger of Clear Lake, Clay B. Still and wife Barb of Kansas City, Kansas, Garth LaGrone of Carthage, Brandon LaGrone and wife Kelly of Carthage, Shelli Lynch and husband Sean of Carthage, Shannon LaGrone of Mesquite, Ashley Brewster and husband Eric of Carthage, Brack LaGrone of Carthage, ten great grandchildren, devoted friend, Hubert Hatcher, loving sitters, “Bene” Hatcher, Sandra Jones, Sheila “Red” Holt, LaQuilla “Toot” Blackshire and Sonja Rollins. Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons and grandsons-in-law. The family requests memorials to the Shriner’`s Hospital in Shreveport, Shady Grove Cemetery or the American Cancer Society.
