Mrs. Katherine White Horn

Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine White Horn, 94, of Magnolia, Texas formally of Carthage will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Williams officiating. A private family burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday evening, August 29, 2025 from 6 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Katherine White Horn was born January 31, 1931 in the Murvaul Community, Panola County, Texas to the marriage of James William and Alice Green Moore White. She went to her heavenly home on Saturday, August 23, 2025 in Magnolia, Texas surrounded by her loving family. Katherine was raised and attended school in the Murvaul Community and graduated from Gary High School in 1947. She met and later married Neil Sharpp Horn on December 25, 1949 and together they celebrated over 47 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on February 28, 1997. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Carthage and the Sertruchia Sunday School class. A homemaker, Katherine enjoyed working in her garden, quilting, crocheting, playing dominos and working puzzles, but she was happiest when spending time and cooking for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Mattie Mae, Louise Rhodes and Martha Roberts and brothers, George A. White and William Ervin White. Mrs. Horn is survived by her sons, Chrystopher Horn and wife Jerri of Whitehouse, Daniel A. Horn and wife Patricia of Carthage and Mark A. Horn and wife Linda of Magnolia; grandchildren, Amanda Pike and husband Ricky, Jarod Horn and wife Lauren, Eric Horn and wife Jamie, Lucy Horn and fiancé, Derek Baggerly, Quincy Horn and wife Tamara, Aubrey Leggett and husband Asa, Preston Horn and wife Alana and Zachary Horn and fiancé, Allison Stark; great grandchildren, Dixie, Chloe, Eric Lane, Knoxlee, Koralyn, Ryder, Juniper, Colton and Hunter; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Asa Leggett, Ricky Pike, Quincy Horn, Preston Horn, Eric Horn, Zachary Horn and Jarod Horn. Billy Williams will serve as an alternate or honorary pallbearer. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Rhodes, Bobby Rhodes, Don Rhodes, Ronnie Roberts, James Roberts, David White and Art Dudley. The family request memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
