Mr. Ken Turner

Funeral services for Mr. Ken R. Turner, 79 of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dale Reed and Rev. Aaron Bequette officiating. Burial will follow in the Martin Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Family visitation will be Saturday evening from 6–8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Turner passed away December 27, 2013 at his home in Carthage. Mr. Kenneth Rex Turner was born April 22, 1934 in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of four children born to the marriage of Oliver Nathanial and Elsie Beckham Turner. He was raised in Oklahoma graduating from Ft. Cobb High School. He obtained his bachelors of Science in Pharmacy from Southwestern State University. Ken began his pharmacy on the Carthage square over 51 years ago and has been a trusted pharmacist throughout his lifetime. Mr. Turner was a member of the Carthage Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M., and the Pine Grove Assembly of God Church in Beckville. He collected coins, was a lifelong gun enthusiast and collector, and loved hunting exotic game. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Orgil Turner, sisters, Olgie Turner Carpenter and Jean Carpenter, and son, Jeff Turner. Mr. Turner is survived by his devoted wife Sandra Turner of Carthage and her son Shae Mannor and wife Brandy of Carthage and their children Payton and Tuff. Also surviving Mr. Turner are his children, Kenneth Rex Turner, Lynn Rowett, Roy Turner and their children; Kim Turner McCauley and husband Stephen of Carthage and their children, Jonathan and Jennifer; and Karen Lee Turner of Carthage and her children Cody and Kristina and their father Jody, and Kim and Karen’s mother, Wilda Turner of Gary; Mother and Father-in-law, Leon and Mildred Holliday, brother in law, Lonnie Holliday of Carthage, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be J. B. Bowen, Tuff Mannor, Ryan Dubois, Cody Mayo, Jody Mayo, Gary Guthrie, and honorary pallbearers will be, Larry Davis, Dr. Bubba Patterson, Roland Duckworth, Ben Sepaugh, Dr. Claude Eddie, Dr. Royce Hill, Dr. Dennis Golden, Kenny James, Stephen McCauley, Shae Mannor, Bill Walker and Lonnie Holliday.
