Mr. Keric Chapman

Funeral services for Keric Lane Chapman, 39, of Tyler, Texas, will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2015 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Powell officiating. Burial will follow in the Gary Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4-6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2015 at the funeral home. Mr. Chapman passed from this life on Thursday, December 10, 2015. He died peacefully in his sleep at his father’s home in Tyler. Keric Lane Chapman was born on March 22, 1976, in Dallas, Texas. He was the son of Rayburn Keith Chapman and Lacy Lane Thomas Jones. He was a graduate of Carthage High School and attended Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches. He had been employed by Fredonia State Bank/Bancorp South in Nacogdoches, Preferred Sales in Houston, and Horizon Business Group in Tyler. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Carthage. He was an Eagle Scout. Keric loved his family and friends, the outdoors, and was an avid skier. Keric was full of life and known for his great sense of humor and positive attitude. Keric was preceded in death by grandparents Billy Thomas, Grady and Nita Chapman, and J.R. Brannon; uncle Ray Thomas, and cousin Alex Thomas. Mr. Chapman is survived by his father, Keith Chapman of Tyler; mother and stepfather Lacy and Jerry Jones of Carthage; grandmothers Betty Thomas of Odem and Jean Brannon of Tyler; sister and brother-in-law Mandy and Michael Powell and their children, Miles, Miller, Mason, and Molly Powell of Carthage; and stepbrothers Jake Hardin of North Richland Hills, Nick Hardin of Houston and Jerry Jones, Jr., and his wife, Tiffany, and their children, Eva and Addie of Carthage; uncle Lonnie Thomas of Houston; and cousins Jason Price of Carthage, Shanna Price of Tyler and Michael Thomas of North Pole, Alaska. Pallbearers are Scott Harrison, John Turner, Cody Cockerham, Eric Turner, Jake Hardin, Malcom Alford, Andy Dawson and Chris Cammack.
