Mrs. Lerlene Cadenhead

Funeral services for Mrs. Lerlene Cadenhead, 99, of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2023, at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis Landtroop officiating. Burial will follow in the Deadwood Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. Mrs. Lerlene Marie Davis Cadenhead was born on April 13, 1924, in Deadwood, Texas. She passed this life peacefully on December 5, 2023, at her Carthage, Texas home. Lerlene was one of ten children born to the marriage of Alvis Alonzo and Frances Manerva Pyle Davis. She was raised and schooled in Deadwood, later graduating from Carthage High School. She married her love, Ruel C. “Buck” Cadenhead March 19, 1942, and they celebrated 65 years together before he preceded her in death in 2007. Mrs. Cadenhead served as the matriarch of her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and prayer warrior for her family. She was a member of the Deadwood Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Carthage Chapter. She Loved, gardening, fishing, quilting and any time with family. She is also preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Zona Mae LaGrone, Deloice Davis, Margie Burns, Gilmer, J.W., Metzel, and Leon Davis, and two infants, Imogene and Chester Ward. Mrs. Cadenhead is survived by her devoted daughter, Marjorie Alexander and husband Glenn of Carthage, loving son, Barton Cadenhead and wife Maureen of Houston; grandchildren, Todd Alexander and wife Stacy, Stephen Alexander and wife Shelly, Luke Alexander and wife Jessica, Jeff Cadenhead, and Karen Cadenhead; great grandchildren, Kristen Bogenschutz and husband Stephen, Kathleen Cadenhead, Matt Cadenhead, Kassidy Alexander, Morgan Alexander, Lexi Alexander, Carter Burnett, Laney Alexander, and Jase Alexander, Great Great Grandchildren, Kallen and Colten Bogenschutz; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Todd Alexander, Stephen Alexander, Luke Alexander, Stephen Bogenschutz, Sheldon Murff, Joe Davis, Jeff Cadenhead, and Matt Cadenhead. The family wishes to thank caregiver, Sandra Adams and the staff of Heartsway Hospice.
