Mr. Littell Jack Hammond

Funeral services for Mr. Jack Hammond, 64, of Gary, Texas will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Jackson officiating. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday night at Hawthorns. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, at the Holly Cemetery in Lovelady, Texas under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mr. Littell Jack Hammond was born September 14, 1960 in Houston, Texas. He passed this life October 3, 2024 in Carthage, Texas. Jack was the older of two boys born to the marriage of Billy George Hammond and Elaine Bolch Hammond. He was schooled in Lamar, graduated Palo Verde High School in Tucson, Arizona and finished trade school in Phoenix, Arizona. He married the love of his life, Kelley Renee Hudson on August 30, 1985 and they celebrated almost 40 years together and had three daughters together. Mr. Hammond spent his career as a diesel mechanic and safety manager working for Worldwide Diesel, contract telecommunications safety manager for NASA for 20 years and came to Carthage to live the country life and worked as the safety manager for Tyson Foods for 12 years. Mr. Hammond was a community leader through his service with the Gary Volunteer Fire Dept., Gary Masonic Lodge #1101, Carthage Masonic Lodge #521 and the O.E.S. of Carthage serving as Past Master and Worthy Patron. He loved time with his kids, grandkids, family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Hammond is survived by his loving wife, Kelley Hammond of Gary; step mom, Myra Hammond of Aubrey; children, Meagen Hammond of Houston, Destine Covey and husband Michael of Pearland, Brianna Martinez and husband Joseph of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky; siblings; William Greg Hammond of Midland; Phillip Grimes and wife Glenda of Gary; Myra’s children, Casey Southard and husband Allen of Pilot Point, Carey Bolin and wife Yayu of Aubrey; grandchildren, Cassidy Martinez, Jaxon Martinez, Reese Covey, and Madison Covey; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be, Joseph Martinez, Michael Covey, Greg Hammond, Jonathan Wuneburger, Michael Ritter, Phillip Grimes and honorary pallbearers will be the Gary Masonic Lodge #1101.
