Funeral Services for Mattie Ruth Smith, age 85, will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Haynesville United Methodist Church. Rev. Barbara Gilbert will officiate. Burial will follow in the Old Town Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 PM, Wednesday, December 29 at Bailey Mortuary. Mrs. Smith was born in Haynesville, LA on December 9, 1925 to Ewing Miller and Martha Rebecca Elizabeth Lewis Maddox and passed from this life on Monday, December 27, 2010 at her residence. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her favorite thing was cooking for her huge family. Her grandchildren affectionately called her “Magic MaMa” because she worked her magic on anything they needed or wanted. Another love of Mrs. Smith was the Fellowship Sunday School Class and Church Choir of the Haynesville United Methodist Church. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Preston Smith, brothers & sisters, Faye Maddox, Theron Maddox, Lorene Goodwin, and Everett Maddox. Those left to cherish her memory are one son, Bill Smith & wife, Tommie of Carthage, TX; two daughters, Wanda Merritt & husband, Randy and Peggy Holloway & husband, Keith all of Haynesville, LA; grandchildren, Lawanda Smith Bridges of Texarkana, AR, Lon Reeder & wife, Jeannie of Shreveport, LA, Kendra Bates & husband, Curt of Atlanta, TX, Kerry Reeder & wife, Lisa of Haynesville, LA, David Smith & wife, April of Chesapeake, VA, Kassie Richardson & husband, Jon of Bossier City, LA and Kyle Holloway of Haynesville, LA; great grandchildren, Mattilyn, Logan, Trent, Braden, Claire, Colton, and Olivia; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Lon Reeder, Kerry Reeder, David Smith, Kyle Holloway, Jon Richardson, and Curt Bates. Special thanks from the family to Claiborne Family Clinic for the many years of devoted care that was given to our Mother. Also, special thanks and love to Alice Green, Clora Hendricks, and Vergie Spivey for their love and care of Mother.
