Mrs. Joy Lane

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Joy Lane, 69 of Carthage will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Allen Tilley officiating. Burial will follow in Youngblood Cemetery in Beckville, Texas under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Family visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home. Mrs. Lane passed away December 25, 2010 in Tyler, Texas. Mrs. Martha Joy Edens Lane was born October 8, 1941 in Carthage, Panola County, Texas. She was one of four children born to the marriage of Geral Stone and Gwendolyn Fern Pierce Edens. Joy was raised and schooled in Beckville graduating with the class of 1960. She attended Panola Jr. College later worked for the offices of LeRoy LaSalle and Panola Nursing Home as Assistant Director, retiring in 2003. She married Jimmy Randel Lane October 22, 1988 and together they celebrated 22 years of marriage. Mrs. Lane was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Carthage in the Friendship Sunday school class. She and Jim traveled on vacations, she loved bowling, bunco and canasta with her many friends. Joy was active in the Beckville Ex-Student Assoc. and the Youngblood Cemetery. She is preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Mark Pass. She is survived by her husband Jim Lane of Carthage, daughter, Neashia Gail Griffith Pass Simpson and husband Kelly of Chandler, step-son, Michael Lane and wife Jessica of Houston, step-daughter, Michelle Findley of Nacogdoches, grandchildren, Christian Wayne Simpson and Abigail McKenna Simpson, step-grandchildren, Ethan and Tia Lane, Cody and Lauren Wheeler, sisters, Judy Edens Griffith and husband Billy Ray of Longview, Pat Edens Dorman and husband Jerry of Carthage, brother, Mike Edens and wife Kathy of Beckville, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jesse Charles and Betty Lane of Gary, one aunt, June Pierce Holland of the Del Ray Community, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be; Christian Simpson, Jeremy Dorman, Kevin Griffith, Brent Griffith, Lance Dorman and Collin Edens.
