Funeral services for Mr. R E Soape, 92, of Carthage, Texas will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Shoffner officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Family visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m., Sunday May 5, 2013 at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mr. Soape died May 2, 2013 in Jacksonville, Texas. Mr. R E Soape was born February 23, 1921 in Jefferson, Texas to the marriage of William Rueben “Bill” and Eva Marie Choate Soape. He served his country through the U. S. Army. R E married Ruby Mae Barton who preceded him in death in 1987. He worked as a pipe fitter and instrument fitter in the pipeline industry. He later married Reba Mae Jones and they celebrated 26 years of marriage together. Mr. Soape loved the outdoors fishing and boating. He is also preceded in death by his parents, son, Bobby Lynn Soape, daughter, Betty Ann Stone, brothers, J C, L C, and A D Soape and half sister, Maxine Biggerstaff. Mr. Soape is survived by his wife, Reba Jones Soape of Gallatin, sons, Billy Ray Soape and wife Linda of Henderson, Bob Soape and wife Dixie of New Summerfield, Bruce Glenn Soape of Gary, Texas, step children, Thomas Gene Jones and wife Marie of Gallatin, David Jones and wife Phyllis of Willis, daughter-in-law, Shirley Soape, grandchildren, Janet Reed of Austin, Anita and Chris Moore of Kountz, Thomas Lynn Soape and Kim of Ohio, Lynelle and Bo Blaylock of Tyler, Melinda and Carl Orr of Brachfield, Holly Kay of Carthage, step grandchildren, Ashley and Josh Snearly, Reba Jones of Willis, Will Fridell and Andrue Fridell, Stephanie Walker and Brandon, Robert Fridell, ten great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and one step great great grandson, brother, W D “Cotton” Soape and wife Juanita of Carthage, son-in-law, Roger Stone of Carthage, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
