Ruth Hight Lovell

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Hight Lovell, 75, of Lufkin will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mardy Guidry and Rev. Jeremy Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Family visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday in Lufkin, Texas at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for local friends there. Visitation for Carthage friends will be from noon Wednesday until service time. Mrs. Lovell died February 3, 2013 in Lufkin, Texas. Mrs. Elma Ruth Hight Lovell was born March 1, 1937 in the Buncombe Community of Panola County, Texas. She was one of three children born to the marriage of Ernest Glen and Lucille Cranford Hight. She was raised and schooled in Gary, Texas graduating with the class of 1955. Ruth married Douglas Lovell September 3, 1960 and they celebrated 32 years of marriage before his death in 1992. Mrs. Lovell worked many years at the Holly Café and as a family caretaker, loving and caring for many children. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Lufkin. Ruth loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by her parents, son, Keith Lovell and brother, Bill Hight. Mrs. Lovell is survived by her son, Kirby Lovell and wife Melanie of Lufkin, daughters, Kristi Pitts and husband Terry of Lufkin, Kammy Emerson and husband Steve of Huntington, brother, Tony Hight and wife Elaine and their children Brent and Lacy all of Gary, sister-in-law, Dora Hight of Lufkin, grandchildren, Bridgette and Steve Sluder of England, Jennifer and Adam Ivey of Huntington, Terra and Spencer Ellis of Lufkin, Rusty and Ashley Pitts of Nacogdoches, Dusty and Renee Pitts of Houston, Brian and Amanda Pitts of Houston, Brent Pitts of Lufkin, Steven and Heather Emerson of Lufkin, Kristin Emerson of Huntington, Kimberly Emerson of Huntington, Jonathan Lovell of San Antonio, Lindsey Lovell of Palestine, Kaitlin Lovell of Lufkin, Kelsey Lovell of Lufkin, Tyler Lovell of Lufkin and Shelby Wilkerson of Central. Serving as pallbearers will be Brent Hight, Adam Ivey, Spencer Ellis, Stephen Emberson, Delbert Cranford, Stacy Cranford, honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Sluder, Rusty Pitts, Dusty Pitts, Brian Pitts and Brent Pitts. The family suggests memorial to the American Cancer Society or Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Lufkin, Texas.
