Mrs. Sue Roquemore

Funeral services for Mrs. Sue Roquemore, 77, of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2023, at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the Boynton Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service Sunday. Mildred Suzanne Roquemore passed away at her home in Carthage, Texas on December 5, 2023. Sue, as she was most always known, was the fourth of eight children born to James Andrew Roquemore and Clara Mae Elliott Roquemore. She was born on May 6, 1946, in Long Branch, Texas. Sue enjoyed attending church services at the Long Branch Missionary Baptist Church where she was a longtime member. She was proud of her years of association with Dr. Ray Brooks who was pastor at the church for many years. Her church family meant a lot to her. She attended schools in Carthage, and Waco, Texas, graduating from Waco High School. In 1980, she went to work for Kyle Animal Clinic on Hwy 315 in Carthage and continued her employment there until she retired in 2014. In 1969 she married and had two children from that union. Twin boys were born on February 5, 1971, in Houston, Texas. Glenn Edward Davis died 4 days later on February 9, 1971. Benjamin David Davis passed away on May 22, 1974, at the age of 3 years. Sue is also preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, David Lamar Roquemore and Jonathon Parker Roquemore. Sue Roquemore is survived by her three brothers, Michael Andrew, James Stephen and wife Patricia, and Mark Elliott Roquemore and two sisters, Anita Catherine Johnson and Rose Marie Frnka, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Many of these friends and family benefitted from her generous spirit. Gifts were given quietly with no expectation of recognition. Serving as pallbearers will be, Billy Kuykendall, Dr. Wayne Kyle, Dr. George Taylor, Dr. Jeff Travis, Greg Stapleton, Brandt Roquemore. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Maverick Stapleton. The family wishes to thank her special friends she loved as sisters, Johnnie Kuykendall and Nancy Joubert for their friendship and care. Also thanks to Joy Cariker for seeing to it that she always had a ride to church. Thanks to Accent Home Health for their medical assistance. The family requests memorials to the Theological Baptist Institute T.B.I. in Henderson, Texas in her name.
