Funeral services for Mr. Thomas “Mack” Cranford, 86, of Carthage, Texas will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dale Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Garrison, Texas under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Monday night at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mr. Cranford died May 28, 2016 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Mr. Thomas Barner “Mack” Cranford was born August 15, 1929 in Garrison, Nacogdoches County, Texas. He was the second of three sons born to the marriage of Thomas Preston and Fannie Arie Crump Cranford. He was raised and schooled in Garrison graduating with the class of 1950. He attended Nacogdoches Business College and served his country through the U. S. Army. Mack spent his career in law enforcement. He worked many years for the Harrison, Nacogdoches, and Panola County Sheriffs offices and retired after 16 years with the Carthage Police Department. Mack married Dorothy L. Lopez in 1979 and they celebrated 33 years together before she preceded him in death in 2012. He was a devoted member of Carthage Missionary Baptist Church. Mack is also preceded in death by his parents and a brother Matt Cranford. Mr. Cranford is survived by his son, Rusty Cranford and wife Shirley of Caladonia, daughters, Mechael Scott and husband Rex of Waskom, Micah Nutt and husband Jody Grubbs of Timpson, brother, Dick Cranford and wife Beverly of Carthage, grandchildren, Ashley Bueton and husband Adam of Midland, Jason Cranford of Nacogdoches, Mindy Harber of Timpson, Josh Cranford of Nacogdoches, Erika Scott and husband Brad of Greenwood, LA, Emily Scott of Waskom, Markus Harber and wife Jennifer of Marshall, Alex Downing of Hallsville, Anna Cranford of Nacogdoches, Connie Tinkle and husband Raymond of Garrison, Kerri Kolb and husband Kevin of Gainesville, great grandchildren, Brannon, Ellington and Lucy Bueton, Rachel Bost, Kylee Rusk, Madison Harber, Jack Harber, Rex Bradlee Scott and Erik Thomas Scott, Allison Beard, Markus Carroll Harber, Gabriel Harber, Macy DeBarge, Kaden Cranford, Codie Cranford, Brent, Kylie and Katie Kolb, numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Bryan Murf, Kevin Jones, Stacey Cranford, Ernie Davis, James Patterson, Joe Mims and Jim Vanover.
