Wendell Lawhorn

Services for Mr. Wendell Lawhorn, 75 of Carthage, Texas will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 14, 2011 in the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dale Reed and Rev. Ronnie Mutina officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Family visitation will be Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 6 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Lawhorn died Friday, March 11, 2011 in Tyler, Texas. Mr. Roy Wendell Lawhorn was born November 14, 1935 in the Waterman’s Front Community of Panola County, Texas to Shella Roy and Wilma Gay Bagley Lawhorn. He attended rural Waterman’s Front Schools. Wendell met and married Frances Clementine Davis on February 23, 1957 and together they celebrated 54 years of marriage. Mr. Lawhorn retired from Lawhorn Trucking working in the logging industry for many years. Active in Little League baseball, Wendell also spent much of his free time umpiring for Dixie League. A longtime member of Carthage Missionary Baptist Church, Wendell delighted in keeping the church grounds well cared for. He enjoyed doing for others, but mostly spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Lawhorn is survived by his loving wife, Clementine Lawhorn of Carthage; daughters, Kim Miller and husband Willie of Gary and Karen Lawhorn Worsham of Carthage; brothers, Tommy Lawhorn and wife Betty of Carthage, Douglas Lawhorn and wife Deanne of Gilmer, Charlie Lawhorn and wife Liesa of Van and Wayne Lawhorn and wife Judy of Carthage; sisters, Sybil Pierce, Elsie Holland and husband Wayne and Barbara Wilson and husband Kent all of Carthage. Also surviving Mr. Lawhorn are his grandchildren; Tabatha Miller of Carthage, Curtis Miller and wife Cassie of Old Center, Josh Blissett and wife Morgan of Carthage, Jason Miller and wife Amy of Gary, Jessica Stone and husband Jonathan of Carthage, Tyler Lawhorn, Taylor Lawhorn, Kolton Worsham, Kimberlyn Worsham, Kenton Worsham and Jayce Worsham all of Carthage; 11 great grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Blissett, Curtis Miller, Jason Miller, Jonathan Stone, Tyler Lawhorn and Kolton Worsham. The family request memorials be made to the Carthage Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund.
