William Henry Barnett

Graveside Services for Mr. William Henry “Deadwood” Barnett, age 69 will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Mattox Cemetery in Diana, Texas with Rev. Chester Farmer officiating under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Family visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at the funeral home. Mr. Barnett died Sunday, June 26, 2011 in Longview, Texas. Mr. William Henry Barnett was born January 9, 1942 in the Deadwood Community of Panola County, Texas to the marriage of Allen Lane “Scooter” and Sybil Spradley Barnett. He attended Carthage schools later graduating from Logansport High School. William Henry worked in oil field and pipeline construction since 1960 as a foreman and supervisor and worked for Elysian Fields I.S.D. for 12 years before retiring. He married Weda Lawson in 1982. Mr. Barnett was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church. He loved fishing, deer hunting, gardening and dancing; he loved morning coffee on his front porch; he loved “life”, his church and church family. He is preceded in death by his parents and step- daughter, Dana Rojo. He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-nine years, Weda Barnett of Deadwood; daughter, Charlotte Barnett Addington of Bossier City; stepson, Danny Stanley and wife Melinda of Diana; brothers, Weldon Barnett of Deadwood and Wayne Bagley and wife Linda of Carthage; grandchildren, Amanda, Arika and Ashley Addington of Bossier City; step grandchildren, Jeff Miller and Francis of Elysian Fields, Mariah Miller of Katy, Mike Miller of Houston, Matt Stanley of Diana and Jenna Stanley of Dallas; nieces, Jerri Ratcliff and husband John of Arkansas and Mary Jo Schubert of Colorado; nephews, Justin Barnett of Elysian Fields, Jason Barnett of Bossier City and Thomas Bagley and wife Ann of New Mexico; sisters-in-law, Jeanie Standefer and husband, Eddie of Deadwood, Peggy Ponder and husband, David of Waskom, Evelyn Pitman and Johnny of Gladewater and Nora Bain and husband, Doyle of Big Sandy; brother-in-law, Roy Lawson of White Oak; two special friends, Columbus Mills and Garth LaGrone, numerous great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends, Serving as pallbearers will be Garth LaGrone, Sherman Spradley, Timmy Spradley, David Brit, Bob Spradley, Columbus Mills, J.T. Gates and Kevin LaGrone.
