    Mrs. Ann Meek Blackwell

    January 18, 1935 - December 8, 2021

    Visitation for Ann Meek Blackwell, 86, of Carthage Texas will be held at Hawthorn Funeral Home, Sunday December 12, 1:00– 3:00 p.m. A Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Stevens Cemetery in Cuero, TX. Ann Meek Blackwell was born January 18, 1935, In Dallas, Texas to Ulma Forest “Preacher” Meek, Sr. and Julia Berenice Burroughs. She married Claude North Blackwell, Sr. February 22, 1953 in Yuma, AZ. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Claude; her parents, her brother U.F. “Jack” Meek, Jr. & his wife Yvonne Meek, Brothers-in-law John Blackwell, & Bob Klieneke, sisters-in-law, Bobby Jane Blackwell & Marsha Meador. She is survived by children Claude Blackwell, Jr. and wife Debbie of Coppell, Tx. Bruce Blackwell, Matt Blackwell, and Dianah Blackwell all of Carthage, Tx. Her Grandchildren, Stephen (wife Robin) Blackwell, Crystal Blackwell, Jacob Blackwell, Katie Baker (Husband Chris), and Ashley Blackwell; great grandchildren, Dodge and Truett Blackwell, Elijah Wallace and Ava and Noa Baker; and her cousin Kerry Pfiefer, two brothers-in-laws, Doodie Blackwell and Willis Blackwell; four sisters-in-laws, Ann Laster, Sally Guess, Sue Stile, and Meri Nance; and numerous nephews and nieces and a host of friends. Ann was a beloved homemaker, seamstress, and cook. She and Claude partnered to run the Panola County Sale barn with her running the Café on Tuesdays for all the buyers, sellers and hands. Her great love of missions led her to serve churches in the WMU ministry for decades. Because of her love for missions the family request donations be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at imb.org in lieu of flowers An online guestbook may be signed at www.hawthornfuneralhome.com
