Mrs. Barbara Dian Scott

Mrs. Barbara Dian Scott, 70, of Beckville, Texas was born December 14, 1950 in Carthage, Texas to the marriage of Elbert Charles and Pauline Godwin Nations. She passed this life Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in Longview, Texas. Dian was raised and schooled in Beckville, graduating from Beckville High School. She continued her education at Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, TN where she met the love of her life, Walter Robert Scott. Dian and Bob were married on June 14, 1971 and together celebrated 49 years of marriage. A homemaker, Dian was a gifted piano player. She loved to accompany people as they sang, playing for the Pitts Singers at Briarcliff and Panola Nursing Homes for 30 years. Dian, a member of Friendship Baptist Church, was a loving and supportive pastor’s wife, often working closely with her husband in the ministry. She loved her family and enjoyed playing with her grandchildren. She was Nonnie to all in the church and has left a lasting legacy of wonderful memories. Dian was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Judy Armstrong; brother, Dennis Nations and nephew, Eric Nations. Mrs. Scott is survived by her loving husband, Bob Scott of Beckville; daughters, Becky Barlish and husband, Bradley of Del Ray, Debra Kassaw and husband Jon of Carthage and Robin Robertson and husband Gale of Beckville; brothers, Steve Nations and wife Wendi of Clayton and Jerry Nations, Glen Nations and wife Tracey of S. Carolina; sister, Pam Bryant of Stem, N. Carolina. Also surviving Mrs. Scott are her mother-in-law, Elise Nations of Hemingway, S. Carolina; brother-in-law, Theron Scott and wife Camille and sisters-in-law, Gloria Young of Hemingway, S. Carolina and Kathy Nations of Carthage; grandchildren, Deanna Franks and husband Aaron, Scotty Martin, Alysa Barlish, Cody Barlish and Ashley Megill, Zach Pierce, Hannah Pierce, Arran Robertson and Michael Kassaw; great grandchildren, Landon Franks, Cole Alexander, Rowdy Barlish and Makenna Barlish, a great host of nieces and nephews who loved and were loved by her, numerous other relatives and friends who are too many to count but have each been a blessing. A Celebrtion of Life service will be held at Friendship Baptist Church, Carthage Texas, Sunday, February 7, 2021 at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Bob Scott and Rev. Carl Anderson officiating. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hawthorn Funeral Home. The family request memorials be made to The Gideons International.
