    Rev. Charles Wilbur Danheim

    September 13, 1928 - January 13, 2021

    Charles Wilbur Danheim died peacefully at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas on January 13, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Lou Goines Danheim. He is survived by his four children and their spouses: Lualeen and Daniel Mayfield of Arvada, CO., Griff and Nella Danheim of Houston, Mark and Beth Danheim of Houston, Dan and Donna Danheim of The Woodlands;Ten grandchildren; Numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Charles was born in Needville, Texas on September 13, 1928. His early years were spent on the family farm in Washington County. He attended Lon Morris College and graduated from Stephen F. Austin University. He was called into the ministry and completed his M.S. in Divinity from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. Charles’ first appointment was at First UMC in Mount Enterprise, Texas. He actively served churches throughout the Texas Conference until his retirement in 1994. He also served as an elder in the United Methodist Church until his death. Charles was a kind, caring minister, and devout Wesleyan Methodist. He strongly believed in the United Methodist Church, the Book of Discipline and the mission of the Church. Charles and Mary Lou retired to their home outside Mount Enterprise, Texas and enjoyed many years of traveling all over the U.S. together. After years of traveling, they settled into life as active attendee’s at Garrison UMC until their death. Memorial services are planned for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 22, at Garrison United Methodist Church in Garrison with Rev. Keith Witaker and Rev. Rick Anderson officiating. The familyl request memorials be made to the Garrison Food Bank which is at Garrison United Methodist Church.
