Funeral services for Mr. Dan Morton, 65, of Carthage, Texas will be 10:00 a.m. Friday February 25, 2022, at the Still Waters Cowboy Church with Rev. Jerry Phillips officiating. Cremation arrangements entrusted to the Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mr. Daniel Edward “Dan” Morton was born September 3, 1956, in Salem, Missouri. He passed this life February 20, 2022, in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was one of three children born to the marriage of Bill Edward and Nellie Ann Kinder Morton. He was raised in Missouri graduating Forsyth High School with the class of 1974. He married Pamela Sue Fries on Thanksgiving Day of 1978 and they celebrated 43 years of marriage. Mr. Morton retired from Luminant Mining as an operator, foreman and supervisor. After retirement he worked for Bayou Outdoors Super Center. He served the Inter Community VFD just receiving his five year plaque, was a certified Emergency Medical Responder, licensed pilot, and a scuba instructor. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing for bass and trout and traveling. He is preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Morton is survived by his loving wife, Pam Morton of Carthage; son, Nick Morton and wife Kelsey of Carthage; sisters, Billie McDonald and husband Terry of Florida, and Tara Wheeler and husband Dave of Missouri; grandchildren Maverick Morton, Levi Dizmond and Jayda Dizmond; niece, Alison Sage; nephew, Mitch McDonald; other relatives and a host of friends. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Inter Community VFD.
