    Mrs. Darlene Barber

    November 9, 1959 - May 22, 2020

    Funeral services for Mrs. Darlene Barber, 60, of DeBerry, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at the Liberty Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Mutina officiating. Burial will follow in the Reeves McMillan Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. A viewing will be held 5-8:00 p.m. Monday at the Liberty Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Darlene Annette Newman Barber was born November 9, 1959 in Houston, Texas. She passed this life May 22, 2020 peacefully at her DeBerry, Texas home. Darlene was the oldest of three children born to the marriage of Samuel Jackson and Nancy Ruth Andrews Newman. She was raised and started schools in Houston, later graduating Carthage High School with the class of 1978. Darlene married Charles Ray Barber and they celebrated over 42 years of marriage. Darlene worked numerous positions in convenience stores, Walmart and served as a bus driver for C.I.S.D. She was a member of the Liberty Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her Lord and family above all else. Her passion was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brother, Richard Newman; grandparents, Basil and Florette Newman, Archie and Lorene Andrews. Mrs. Barber is survived by her devoted husband, Charles Ray Barber of DeBerry; parents, Sam and Nancy Newman of Midyette, children, Samantha Wright and husband Jason of Elysian Fields, Shannon Barber and Kristy of Fairplay; step daughter, Jenny Youngblood and Charles of Gary; brother, Joel Newman and Carla of Minnesota; sister-in-law’s, Gayle Wyatt and Jeff of DeBerry, and Tammy Crawford and Keith of Carthage; grandchildren, Brandon Barber, Taylor Wright, Jaxon Wright, Ashlynn Phelps, Kelley Phelps, Samantha Youngblood, Maddy Youngblood, Jacob Youngblood, Brandon Paske, and Montanna Holiday; great granddaughter, Jaydyn Bellows; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
