    November 14, 1955 - June 22, 2020

    Graveside funeral services for Diane Vail, 64, of Carthage, Texas will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2020 at the Liberty Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Dale Gary officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Nora Diane Boykin Vail “Dede” was born November 14, 1955 in Abilene, Texas. She passed this life June 22, 2020 peacefully at her Carthage home. Diane was born to Nora Lynn Whaley and James Boykin. She was raised and schooled in Carthage. Diane was a Bulldog majorette graduating with the class of 1974 Because Diane was such a special person, God enamored her with many unmeasurable skills & talents. Diane was a talented floral designer. e operated “Diane’s Unique Designs”. Diane loved people and her reward was making sure they were satisfied and happy. Diane exemplified her unique talents at Christmas time, decorating homes inside and out. Also, one of her favorite things to “shine” through was doing weddings – all filled with love. She lived for her family and friends. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren’s many activities as they grew up. She was preceded in death by her son, Bryan E. Vail; her mother, Nora Lynn Whaley, nephew, Josh Boykin; and son-in-Law, Michael Woodward. Diane is survived by a daughter, Cristi Vail Woodward; father, James Boykin; grandsons, Koby and Natalie Yoder, Everett Nieto, Carlos Nieto; granddaughters, Amanda Woodward, Madalynn Vail, and Alex Nieto; daughter-in-law Machelle Vail; brother, Rex Boykin; sisters, Catherine Williams and Sherrie Murphy; aunts and uncles, Judith Ogden, Clifford, Rosie Whaley, and Raymond Whaley; several close friends, Donna Rodgers, Regina Williamson, Stacie Malone, Sheila Willis, Lela Collins, Pat Smith and Karen Davis and numerous others. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Hawthorn Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
