    Mr. Don "Hoot" Robertson

    August 23, 1941 - September 5, 2020

    Memorial funeral services for Mr. Don “Hoot” Robertson, 79, of Dixie Lake will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2020 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Freddy Mason officiating. Visitation will be 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the memorial. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Hawthorn Funeral Home. His ashes will be lain to rest at Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Athens, Texas at a future date. Mr. Don Carlton "Hoot" Robertson was born August 23, 1941 in Dallas, Texas. He passed this life September 5, 2020 peacefully, surrounded by his family at his Dixie Lake home. Don was born to the marriage of Rollen Carlton and Virginia Lillian Bradley Robertson. He was raised and schooled in Malakoff, Texas. He married Nettie Ruth Hood Robertson June 14, 1963 in Athens, Texas and again on June 14, 2014 at their Dixie Lake home. Mr. Robertson worked in mining for Texas Utilities and after retirement he worked for Monroe Brothers Paint and Body. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and a strong Christian man. He loved the outdoors hunting, fishing, and time with family and friends on Dixie Lake. He is preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Robertson is survived by his loving wife, Nettie Ruth Robertson of Dixie Lake; son, Jesse Carlton Robertson and wife Crystal of Diana; daughter, Pebbles Knight and husband Roy of Gary; step children, Bodine and Theresa Bancroft, Brad and Jill Keel, and Buddy and Shelly Cox and their respective families; sisters, Barbara Jo Gunnels and husband Billy of Malakoff, Rhonda Lynn Robertson and wife Donna of Malakoff; grandchildren, Robert and Rendi Waldon, Rollen Robertson and Vanessa Huggins, Riley Robertson and Julie Sheffield, Christian Lightfoot and Amanda Knight, Rachel Robertson, and Briana Caulderon; special friend Miguel Mendoza; Numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. The family suggests memorials to the Panola County Cancer Coalition. An online guestbook can be signed at www.hawthornfuneralhome.com
