Mrs. Elizabeth Harris Parker Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Memorial services for Mrs. Elizabeth Harris Parker, 86, of Delray, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Hawthorn Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Parker was born on October 4, 1935, to parents Willie Harris and Eva Mae Davidson. She passed this life on June 30, 2022, in Tyler. She was raised and schooled in Beckville, graduating with the class of 1954. After high school, she attended Panola Junior College. In 1954, she married Crawford Duane Parker, Jr. of Beckville. Over the next few years, the couple had four children, Donna Beth, Crawford Duane III, Nella Elaine, and Penny Lynne. She and her husband lived in Beckville, Carthage, and in Houston while her husband attended law school, but lived most of her life in Delray. In her early years, she dedicated hours of her time working with Carthage Service League and the Thrift Shop, improving the Sammy Brown Library, and participating in CISD parent committees. She was room mother for her children for years and was a member of many local committees. She participated in Dinner Bridge, 32-Club, Carthage Club, sewing circle, Duplicate Bridge, The Panola County Democratic Club, and Beta Sigma Phi. As her children became adults, she spent many hours working as secretary for her husband, playing more bridge and visiting with her grandchildren. The couple also did much traveling. In her later years, Parker continued sewing circle, Thursday afternoon bridge, and Tuesday evening Duplicate Bridge, among many other things. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Crawford Duane Parker III, husband, Crawford Parker Jr; siblings, Ruby Elaine Harris Smith, Jack Marion Harris, and great grandson, William Stickel. She is survived by her three daughters, Donna Singleton, Elaine McPherson, and Penny Lowrey; sons-in-law, Rick McPherson and Ron Singleton; daughter-in-law, Cara Beth Parker Morris; grandchildren, Maribeth Ayers Stickel (Chris), Michael Parker Ayers (Emily), William Crawford Ayers (Asma), Rachel Ellis Martin-McPherson (Adam), Joel Scott McPherson (Raven), Daniel Austin McPherson, Justin Jeffery Lowrey, Jonathan Harris Lowrey, Jacob Allen Lowrey, Crawford Duane Parker IV (Rajel), and Sara Beth Parker; great grandchildren, Theodore, Oliver, Parker, Crawford, Harris, and Wallace Ayers, Ruby Martin – McPherson, Baron McPherson, Braxton Register, Ezra Parker, Ellamae Stickel and Finn Stickel. Also surviving her are a host of friends and family including, the Harris’, Iveys’, Smiths, Thurmans, and her darling Maggie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Conner Cemetery.
