Felton Lawrence Beasley, age 70, passed on to his Heavenly home on July 10 in Tyler, Texas from a lung disease, pulmonary fibrosis, which was untreatable and not curable. Born in Center, Texas, he was the eldest child of Felton Ellis Beasley and Leta Mae Smith Beasley, who preceded him in death. Also preceded in death by Johnny James and Ollie Horton Smith, James Mc Cellan and Lena Finley Beasley, grandparents, and son, Kevin Lawson Beasley, brother-in-laws, James L. Bogue and Reid H. Bunger, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Felton is survived by Brenda Bogue Beasley, wife, of 50 years, a daughter, Tammy Beasley Baty, Forney, Texas, husband Darrell, and grandsons, Austin and Kaleb, sister- in- laws, Bette Bunger and Barbara Bogue, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Felton loved the Lord, God’s creations, photography, travel with Brenda in the Airstream, Beahive, fishing and woodworking. He attended Gary Schools, Panola Jr. College, Stephen F. Austin University where he graduated with BBA in Accounting. Felton was Valedictorian of his high school graduating class in l965. His high school activities included FFA and varsity basketball. In the summer of 1964, he represented the Panola County American Legion at Texas Boy’s State. He enjoyed playing sports and watching sport activities and coached numerous children’s sports teams in basketball and baseball. He applied his Accounting in the printing industry with Moore Business Forms / RR Donnelley for 38 years in Texas, Illinois and South Carolina. Felton served on the board of directors of the company credit union for many years, president of the home owner’s association in South Carolina, and served on the Greenwood, SC United Way Campaign. He retired February 2007 as a Plant Comptroller with RR Donnelly in Brenham, Texas. He was an ordained deacon and served in two churches. He enjoyed storytelling, painting a picture with his words when writing, and helping and supporting others in any way he could. Felton taught children’s church telling Bible stories with flannel graph boards, high school Sunday School, and worked with the university students. He taught many high school and college students to water ski, using much patience. Fishing was a hobby for many years, and catching a large mouth bass was a treat. His only hunting was with his camera.
