    Mrs. Jane Soape

    June 28, 1948 - January 27, 2022

    Visitation for Mrs. Jane Soape, 73 of Carthage, Texas will be held 1-3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home in Carthage, Texas. Funeral services for Mrs. Jane Soape, will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2022 with a visitation one hour prior at the Bailey and Foster Funeral Home Chapel in Palestine, Texas with Richard Earl Soape, Jr. and Rev. James Welch officiating. Burial will follow in the Newsom Cemetery in the Harmony Community of Palestine, Texas. Mrs. Thelma Jane Johnson Soape was born June 28, 1948 in Carthage, Texas. She passed this life January 27, 2022 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was born to the marriage of Ruie Lee and Thelma Blanche Powell Johnson. Thelma began schools in Longstreet, Louisiana and graduated Carthage High school with the class of 1966. She married her love Richard Earl Soape, Sr. February 12, 1967 and they celebrated almost 55 years of marriage and three children. Mrs. Soape retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after 26 years of service as a mail system coordinator. She was a devoted member of the Joel 2:28 Fellowship Church in Logansport, Louisiana. Jane cherished time with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Kevin Lee Soape. Mrs. Soape is survived by her devoted husband Richard Soape, Sr. of Carthage; son Richard Earl Soape, Jr. of Carthage; daughter, Tonya Seitz and husband John of Huntsville; sisters, Elsie Mae Barnes and husband Charles William of Carthage, Molly Ann Bradford of Carthage; grandchildren, Richard Earl Soape, III, Tonya Cheyenne Lee Soape, Emilee Kristin Worley, Lauren Leigh Worley; and great grandchildren, Shyla, Destiny, and Brantlee; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
