    Mrs. Jean Gaut Edgmon

    November 4, 1933 - April 14, 2022

    Funeral services for Mrs. Jean Gaut Edgmon, 88, of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Anderson and Rev. Bob Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Youngblood Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1-2:00 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Mrs. Imogene “Jean” Gaut Edgmon was born November 4, 1933, in Rusk County, Texas. She passed this life April 14, 2022, in Carthage, Texas. Jean was the youngest of three children born to the marriage of Jesse Lee and Emma Jane Dickerson Gaut. She was raised and schooled in New London. Jean married Karl Ferman Edgmon December 4, 1951 and they celebrated 65 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 2017. Mrs. Edgmon was a loving homemaker and worked many years at Perry Bros., Ben Franklin and Panola Nursing Home. Mrs. Edgmon was a member of the Youngblood Freewill Baptist Church, loved cooking and collecting teddy bears. She is also preceded in death by her parents, siblings, J.C. Gaut and Emma Frances Gaut Rowe. Mrs. Edgmon is survived by her daughter, Karla Cole and husband David of Beckville; sons, Kenneth Edgmon and wife Kathy of Gary, Keith Edgmon and wife Devon of Carthage; grandchildren, Dana Mosier and husband Dan of Carthage, Rodney Cole of DeBerry, Kimberly Edgmon of Gary, Kris Edgmon and wife Alexis of Rockwall, Kraig Edgmon and wife Kacy of Beckville, Bryan Edgmon of Carthage, and Chad Edgmon of Hallsville; eleven great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family extends special thanks to Briarcliff Nursing Home and Heartsway Hospice for their exceptional care of Mrs. Edgmon.
