After the war, he earned his teacher’s certificate from Sam Houston State University, and taught high school in Craig, Colorado, where he met and married Mary Ann Kyle in 1954. They celebrated 54 years of marriage before she preceded him in death February 13, 2009. A firm believer in the power of education, Kyle held a Bachelors degree from Sam Houston State University and Masters degrees from University of Northern Colorado and the University of South Carolina. He retained a lifetime membership in the National Education Association, and he served on numerous New Math-related committees from 1964-1965. Mr. Kyle taught Advanced Mathematics and Engineering Drafting at Panola College for 26 years. His educational pursuits extended beyond the classroom. A dedicated Christian, he served as an elder, teacher, and lay preacher at First Christian Church for 55 years. He dedicated his life to his Sunday school duties, proudly teaching his Sunday school class remotely during the quarantine, up until two weeks before his death.
