    Mr. Johnny L. Blanchard

    February 12, 1940 - May 12, 2020

    Funeral services for Mr. Johnny L. Blanchard, 80, of Long Branch, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2020 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the Boynton Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Guests are invited to attend via Facebook live stream. A viewing will be held 4-7:00 p.m. Friday night at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mr. Johnny Lucian Blanchard was born February 12, 1940 in Gideon, Missouri. He passed this life May 12, 2020 peacefully at his Long Branch home. Johnny was one of ten children born to the marriage of Hubert Blanchard and Daisy Belle Jordan Blanchard. He was raised and schooled in Gideon. Johnny served his country through the U.S. Army. He married Barbara Ann Fowler April 1, 1963 and they celebrated 57 years of marriage and raised three daughters in a loving home. Mr. Blanchard spent his career in Ranch Management for the Los Lomas Ranch. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church, loved westerns and Jeopardy, and above all else, time with grandkids. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Berlin, Doyle, Jackie, Clifford, Calvin, Ronnie, and Gary Blanchard. Mr. Blanchard is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Blanchard of Long Branch; daughters, Teresa Barber and husband Michael of Carthage, Tammy Heston and husband Matt of Carthage, and Sheila Whitaker and husband Russell of Fairplay; sisters, Rachel Sherrill of Gideom, MO, and Margie Langley of Malden, MO; grandchildren, Sabra Edman and husband Donald, Brandy Dudley and husband Lee, Dustin Freeman and wife Mandy, Cody Whitaker and wife Leah, J.C. Whitaker and wife Ashley, Cassidi McGuire and husband Cody; great grandchildren, Danika Edman, Noel Edman, Donald Edman, II, Baylor Hortman, Dale Edman, Allie Kelley, Abbie Freeman, Cobyn Whitaker, Karter Jo Dudley, Charlie Rae McGuire, Harper Dudley, John Ryan Whitaker, Kyson and Kyler Whitaker; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Whitaker, Cody McGuire, J.C. Whitaker, Lee Dudley, Donald Edman, and Poncho Barnett; honorary pallbearers will be, Russell Whitaker, Matt Heston, and Michael Barber. The family suggests memorials to the D.A.V. Disabled American Veteran’s Assoc.
