Mrs Lula Mae Hartley

Funeral services for Mrs. Lula Mae Hartley, 99, of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Old Center Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home. Mrs. Lula Mae Roe Hartley was born September 18, 1920 in Logansport, Louisiana. She passed this life September 29, 2019 peacefully at her Carthage home. She was one of five children born to the marriage of Kirby Jerome and Mertice Boyd Roe. Mrs. Roe later married Dr. William Allen Ramsey who was a devoted husband, father and grandfather to his family. Lula Mae was raised and schooled in the Galloway Community of Panola County, Texas. She married Bob Arvin Hartley and they celebrated 54 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on April 19, 1997. Lula Mae was a member of the Old Center Baptist Church since 1948. She was active in the O.E.S. Chapter in Tenaha, Texas, loved cooking and homemaking for the family she loved, and worked as a trusted sitter to many families. She is also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jesse James Roe, Charles Phil Roe and a sister, Levada Reeves; and one granddaughter, Candice Evans. Mrs. Hartley is survived by her devoted daughter, Joann Boyd and her husband Travis Campbell of Carthage; loving son, Kenneth Hartley and wife Doris of Riderville; granddaughter, Tanya Carroll Beasley of Carthage; and a sister, Lillie Townsend of Pasadena; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be; Jason Funderburk, Brent Carroll, Anthony Hartley, McKinney Evans, Val Evans, Tom Hartley, and Stephen Pinkston.
