Arlington, VA – Maria Michele Mire passed away on October 17, 2018 after a brief illness. She was a breast cancer survivor of 17 years. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hawthorn Funeral Home in Carthage, TX. Requiem Mass will be held at 12:00 Noon, Monday, November 5, 2018, in The Blessed Virgin Mary Traditional Chapel located in Clayton, TX. Officiating will be Reverend Father Frank Kurtz, SSPX, Prior, Queen of Angels Church, Dickenson, TX. There will be a reception after which she will be transported to St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shreveport, LA for burial. Michele was a native of Shreveport, LA and a resident of Arlington, VA for 28 years. Michele was born on April 13, 1966 to Errol John Mire and Antoinette Caplis Mire. She was a 1984 graduate of St. Vincent’s Academy. Michele enrolled at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now ULL) and was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and the USL Debate Team where she graduated in 1989. Michele worked with the U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Michele was a program manager with the Trade Operations Division with the Office of Field Operations (OFO). She is survived by her mother, Antoinette Caplis Mire; her two brothers Errol John Mire, Jr., Cleveland Pierre Mire and wife Angela Couvillon Mire; and her four nephews, Trey, Stephen, Zachary and Rafael Mire. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Vincent DePaul Society.
