    Mrs. Mary Nan Armstrong

    December 15, 1935 - December 6, 2018

    Mary Nan Langford Armstrong was called to heaven on December 6, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Hawthorn Funeral Home, Carthage. Graveside services and interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation will be Saturday from 6-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers are Colton Armstrong, Clayton Armstrong, Patrick Dinan, Terry Armstrong, Reynolds Blunt and Luis Saenz. Mary Nan was born in Carthage, Texas, on December 15, 1935 to Allen B. Langford and Josephine Capps. She was full of life and had a passion for family, caregiving and gardening, she graduated from Carthage High School and Panola College at the top of her class. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s of Science Degree at Stephen F. Austin. She worked at the Beckville Independent School District as a teacher and librarian, she passed on her passion for learning, reading and higher education to her children and grandchildren. She dedicated her life to serving the needs of other people, and leaves behind a legacy of great love and service of others because of her strong faith in Jesus Christ. Mary Nan is survived by her husband of 62 years, A.R. Armstrong, her children, Joe Dale Armstrong and wife, Sheri, and Randall Keith Armstrong, and wife, Starla, and her grandchildren, Kristen Armstrong, Karlea Armstrong, Clayton Armstrong, Kamryn Armstrong, Colton Armstrong, Keely Armstrong Dinan and spouse, Patrick Dinan. She is also survived by her sisters, Helen Marie Stewart and husband, Johnnie; Sherry Diane Whitehead and husband, Brad; Brenda Sheisser and Joyce Hicks; her brothers, Bruce Langford and wife Peggy; Charles Langford; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen B. Langford and Josephine Capps Langford, her daughter, Jennifer Kay Armstrong, her twin sister, Mattie Ann Langford, her sister, Glenda Langford Nelson, her brother, Lindal Wayne Langford.
