    Mrs. Mary Christine Ferguson

    January 15, 1926 - January 6, 2019

    Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Christine Ferguson, almost 93, will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Trinity Baptist Church in Lakeport with Bro. Gary May officiating. Burial will follow in Vinson Cemetery in Rusk County under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening, December 8, 2019 from 6 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mary Christine Free Ferguson was born January 15, 1926 in Tatum, Texas to Homer J. and Rosa Bell Turner Free. She attended Tatum schools and graduated with the Class of 1943 and then attended Business School in Henderson. Christine married James Edward “Sport” Ferguson. She worked as a Secretary in Tatum ISD, retired from Sears and owned and operated Tatum Floral and Gifts. Mrs. Ferguson was a lifelong member of First Christian Church in Tatum. She enjoyed the outdoors working with her flowers, garden and peach orchard. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rosine Free and son, Dale Ferguson. Mrs. Ferguson is survived by her son, James H. (Buster) Ferguson and wife Kay of Diana; daughter, Shirley Ferguson of Tatum; grandchildren, Chuck Rogers and wife Lynette of Royse City, Shane Rogers and wife Mandy of Tatum, James Ritter Ferguson and wife Linda of Diana and Shannon Dale Ferguson and wife Amanda of Hallsville; great grandchildren, Brenden Rogers, Dylan Rogers, Jason Rogers, Kylie Rae, Dake Rogers, Loren Ferguson Landon Ferguson and Bailey Ferguson; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons. The family request memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
