    Mr. Ricky Bozeman

    January 3, 1955 - November 28, 2018

    Funeral services for Mr. Ricky Bozeman, 63, of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Kirby Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Strong Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Friday night at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mr. Ricky Lavone Bozeman was born January 3, 1955 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the marriage of George LaVone and Vesta Mae Hooper Bozeman. He passed this life November 28, 2018 at his home in Carthage, Texas. He was raised and schooled in Carthage graduating with the class of 1974. He was active in the Army National Guard retiring as a E-8 Master Sergeant, he was deployed to training in Romania, and served in hurricane and tornado disaster relief, and called up after 9-11 to homeland security. Ricky married Shelia Joy McQueen in June of 1980 and they would celebrate 38 years of marriage. Mr. Bozeman worked at Cherokee Steel as a Fabricator in safety and quality control for 34 years, Fab Steel in Waskom, Food Fast and CEFCO for many years. Ricky was active in Southside Baptist Church serving the Cub and Boy Scouts Troop #268 as assistant Scout Master, RA Leader and coached in the Dixie League. He loved fishing, golfing, especially the “Bozeman Open.” Yahtzee with his cousins, Pat, Andy, and Candy, and jigsaw puzzles. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Barry Dean Bozeman and sisters, Georgia and Debra Bozeman. Mr. Bozeman is survived by his loving wife, Shelia Bozeman of Carthage; children, Jeri Burgess and husband Brandon of Carthage, Jeremy Bozeman and wife Bonnie of Henderson, and Matthew Bozeman of Carthage; grandson, Jaxson Burgess of Carthage; sister, Vicki Kay Johnson and husband Mike of Corpus Christi; half-sister, Kathy Brown and husband Marlin of CA; sister-in-law, Shirley Bozeman of Carthage; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be, Andy Robinson, Larry Bozeman, Doug Baker, Gary Posey, Matt Rymel, and Bennie Campbell. Honorary pallbearers are Dennis McCauley and Ron Bozeman.
