    August 7, 1956 - July 6, 2018

    Funeral services for Mr. Ricky Davis, 61, of Gary, Texas will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dale Walker and Bro. Levi Cohorst officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Monday night at the funeral home. Mr. Ricky Lynn Davis was born August 7, 1956 in Carthage, Texas and passed away July 6, 2018 in Carthage, Texas. Ricky was one of two sons born to the marriage of Robert Milton and Jimmie Gaye Langley Davis. He was raised and schooled in Carthage, graduating with the class of 1974. In 1967, his father started Robert Davis Paint and Body Shop, known most recently as Davis Brothers Collision Center. Along with his brother, Scott, he worked for more than 40 years in the family’s auto repair business. He married Dorothy Kay Griffith on November 3, 1978. They celebrated 39 years of marriage and raised their son, Cody, in a loving Christian home. He is preceded in death by his beloved father. He enjoyed the outdoors, visiting with family and friends, riding his motorcycle and actively serving in Eastside Missionary Baptist Church in Gary. Mr. Davis is survived by his loving wife, Kay Griffith Davis of Gary; mother, Jimmie Gaye Davis of Carthage; son, Cody Davis and wife Nichole of Springdale, Arkansas; brother, Scott Davis and wife Bobbie of Carthage; only granddaughter, Evalyn “Evy” Grace Davis of Springdale, Arkansas; niece, Callie Davis of Tyler; and nephew, Trevin Davis of Plano; many other relatives and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers are Kyle Weatherford, Brian Cohorst, Junior Woodfin, John Woodfin, Wayne Riggs, John Patty, and Tommy Ishee. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Johnson, Maxie Lake, Bobby Wilkerson, Bill Anderson, Johnny Marshall, Keith Gray, and Bill Hayes. The family suggests memorials to Eastside Baptist Church, 1996 FM 999, Gary, Texas 75643, Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, CR 119, Carthage, Texas 75633, or Mt. Bethel Cemetery Assoc. 825 W. Sabine Carthage, Texas 75633.
