Robert "B.J." Wayne Howell

Memorial services for Mr. Robert “B.J.” Howell, 59, of Carthage, Texas will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2021 in the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Joshua Webb officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Robert Wayne Howell was born August 19, 1961 in Carthage, Texas, to the marriage of Teddy W. Ashley and Mary F. Maples Ashley, but was adopted and raised by his grandparents, Robert S Maples, Sr. and Mary Ellen Maples. After graduating from Carthage High School, Mr. Howell attended both Panola Jr. College and LSU. He loved collecting guns and training racing horses. He was very knowledgeable in the oil and gas industry, often providing consultation for many of the area companies when called upon. Mr. Howell attended Central Baptist Church when he was able. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and an unknown wife and child. Mr. Howell is survived by a brother, Cody Wayne Ashley and wife of Dayton; sister Vera Ellen LeBrun Grill and husband Michael of Collegeville, Pennsylvania; uncle Robert Maples and wife Gayle of Lake Charles, Louisiana; aunt Paulette Ashley Smith; cousin Deanna Alexander of Hutto, and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family suggests donations to the ALS Association in lieu of flowers.
