Mr. Robert Lee "Bob" Wright Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Funeral services for Mr. Bob Wright, 85, of Carthage, Texas will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2021 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home with Dr. Allen Tilley officiating. Burial will follow in the Rehobeth Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday night at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mr. Robert Lee “Bob” Wright was born August 25, 1936 in Overton, Texas. He passed this life peacefully December 10, 2021, at his Carthage, Texas home. Bob was the youngest of four children born to the marriage of William Lee and Ruth Ann Autry Wright. He was raised in Carthage graduating from Carthage High School with the class of 1956. Mr. Wright served his country through the U.S. Army. He married Barbara Ann Shaw in 1958. Mr. Wright started his career in the grocery business managing 7 stores for Brookshires Foods. He worked 22 years as a paint contractor. He and Barbara bought Joe’s Café and also owned and operated the Catfish Place in Marshall and Tatum. Bob was a member of First Baptist Church of Carthage since 1978 and was a charter member of the Victory Sunday School Class. He was raised in the Baptist faith and served in many positions in each church as Sunday School Superintendent, usher, chairman of the ushers, building committee. Mr. Wright loved golfing and served as president of the Cherokee Golf Assoc. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 57 years Barbara Shaw Wright; daughter, Linda Sue Hiscutt; sister, Mary Adilene Welch; brothers, Marvin Leon and William Thomas Wright. Mr. Wright is survived by his devoted children, Chuck Wright and wife Kristie of Cedar Park; daughter, Letha Grisham and husband Donnie of Garland; grandchildren, Jessica Caskey and husband Eric of Denton, Anthony Grisham and wife Amanda of Garland, Brent Grisham and wife Kinzie of Caddo Mills, Laura Hargrave and husband Trey of Richardson, Jeff Wright and wife Stacie of College Station, Stephen Wright of the U. S. Navy, Sicily, Italy, Aaron Wright and wife Hannah of the U.S. Navy, Oxnard, CA, Jonathan Wright of Tyler, Ashley Wright of Cedar Park; great grandchildren, Allyah Bermea, Ava Bermea, Tripp and Campbell Grisham, Lucas and Caroline Hargrave, Jordynn Tunchez-Wright, S.J. Tejeda, Asher Wright, Camden, Aubrey and Parker Wright; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, honorary pallbearer will be Wayne Sheffield. The family suggest memorials be made to Gideons International or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
